Reading the Brief

The five sections of the morning Brief and what each one means.

The Brief is designed to be finished in under three minutes. It answers four questions: what is on fire, what is today, what am I blocking, what am I missing.

  • Needs your attention: the few things that genuinely need you, one plain sentence each.
  • Today, annotated: the day's calendar with the context ALMYSS already holds.
  • Meetings to prepare: what the last thread said, what arrived since, what is missing.
  • Changed overnight: what moved while you were away.
  • Waiting on: the commitments made to you, and the ones you made, tracked in both directions and aged.

Every line carries its receipts: the emails, events and invoices it was derived from, one click away. An unsourced claim is not made.

When nothing needs you, the Brief says so. Emptiness is earned, never padded.
